"Petra's Stone" is an obscure gem consisting of eight delicately restrained downtempo pieces.

The album is built around field recordings that c o m t e has collected over the last few years in Sweden, Italy and Ireland. Through the subtle editing and manipulation of samples, c o m t e has managed to create a soundscape consisting of repetitive structures that is as enigmatic as it is intimate. These repeating loops and rhythmically arranged fragments are interwoven with analog synthesizer sounds and percussive elements. In the process, c o m t e experiments with different improvisation techniques and textures, creating this distinctive, nostalgic sound.

The album was mastered by renowned composer, artist and mastering engineer Lawrence English at Negative Space. The artwork was designed by our good friend J. Cowhie, while Formen was responsible for the layout. The covers of the tape version are printed on high quality mineral paper, which gives the artwork more spatial depth due to its grainy and velvety surface. The inlays are made of translucent paper, all hand numbered by Empty Space.

This album is so lovely, it really has the best aspects of ambient music - calming, subtle, and works well either as background or as something to intently listen to. The texture in the tracks, especially I is gorgeous, it reminds me of the texture on some of Mum's, "finally we are no one". I love the way the little textured noises fade in and out of what we hear while the ethereal waves in the background shimmer. I love listening to ambient albums on bandcamp and this is one of my favorites! bryophytic_patina
